Weekly Geeks 2010-29: Reading from the Decades

This past week I celebrated my 50th birthday - a half century of living - and it made me think about how books have changed since 1960 when I was born. I recently read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey which was published in 1962. It is a wonderful literary classic which is still relevant today. Many of the issues (the perception of women and gays, attitudes towards the mentally ill, etc...) are still issues our society struggles with even though tremendous progress has been made in these areas.

So today's Weekly Geeks is about examining a book (or books) which were published in your birth decade. Tell us about a book that came out in the decade you were born which you either loved or hated. Is is relevant to today? Is it a classic, or could it be? Give us a mini-review, or start a discussion about the book or books.

Finally, once you've posted, come back here and give us a link to your post! Have fun!
