Cheryl Cole makes a fashion faux pas in unflattering grey tracksuit
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER Is that you, Cheryl? Ms Cole made something of a fashion faux pas in a grey tracksuit as she flew back to the UK
She was obviously thinking she'd go for comfort ahead of her long-haul flight back to the UK.
But Cheryl Cole made something of a fashion faux pas in an unflattering grey tracksuit as she left the U.S. and headed back to London.
The 27-year-old singer hid her petite frame in the unattractive zip top and jogging bottoms combination. Not a good look: Cheryl teamed the tracksuit with a pair of heeled boots
And the only hint of Cheryl's now-renowned sense of style came with the black boots she teamed the outfit with, as well as her designer white handbag.
But Cheryl seemed happy enough with her outfit, keeping her head down but managing a smile for photographers as she made her way through Los Angeles' LAX Airport. In disguise: Cheryl tried to go incognito in a pair of huge sunglasses
And it's no wonder the singer is smiling, as she has won rave reviews already for her part on X Factor USA.
Cheryl flew out to LA the day after it was announced that she would be joining the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and LA Reid. Can't you see anything? Cheryl, who was wearing dark sunglasses, is guided through the airport
Glamour girl: Cheryl's dressed-down look was in sharp contrast to her appearance at the X Factor USA auditions last week
And while Cheryl's involvement in the show has already been a success, she met criticism from some viewers when she sat next to Simon on the panel - the seat usually reserved for Paula Abdul.
An insider told MailOnline: 'The fans are angry because Cheryl is sitting next to simon.
'They call Paula and Simon "Saula" and think that Cheryl is splitting them up.'Chic: Cheryl went for huge hair and a vibrant outfit for her first day of work Stateside

Malgorzata Dudek Giger’s Goddess Spring/Summer 2012 Women’s Collection
Copyright by Malgorzata Dudek | Photography Christoph Musiol | Styling Jadwiga Pokryszka | Hair Margo Wegierek | Make-Up Patricia Bontscheff | Set-Design Uli Gajsa | Model Katarzyna Nawrocka | Sunglasses Slav Nowosad | Shoes Kazar
An homage to the Swiss surrealist, H.R. Giger. Always being fascinated by the artwork of Giger and the massive impact of his Biomechanical vision on the world of architecture, film, music, tattoo art, fashion and industrial design, Malgorzata Dudek, with H.R. Giger's prior approval, transferred his cultural influence onto fabric. the collection includes a series of one-off couture pieces with adapted Giger prints. Some of the standout pieces are an elegant skin-tight gown with a Giger Li print and a hautingly beautiful black, skin-tight gown with 3-D baby heads from Giger's Landscape XVIII adorning the back and train. Throughout the collection, there are also laser-cut leather elements which were inspired by the artists airbrushing. the collection was accessorized with metal sunglasses by designer Slav Nowosad which are inspired by Giger’s Birth Machine.
My desire with this collection is to honor to H.R. Giger, pay him tribute, and show how his influence resonates in the world of fashion. When I started sketching this collection and planning the fabrics, I couldn’t see it complete without elements of Giger’s artwork. And what better way for me, as a designer, to honor a man who’s Biomechanical vision has massively influenced architecture, film, music, tattoo art, fashion and industrial design. Last February, I sent sketches to him through his agent and to my surprise, I heard back almost immediately and was given creative freedom to incorporate a jointly agreed upon selection of Giger's art! It’s such an honor to work with this artist because he’s so influential that I was aware of and appreciated his work, long before I knew his name.

Why is the third dimension so fascinating? A further dimension gives more information and space for opportunities, allows a higher scope for communication and visual experiences. James Cameron’s 3D science fiction adventure Avatar (2009) started a whole new era in form modeling. the influence of the third dimension was felt not only in fashion but also in film, architecture, photography and more. This hype, however, was not entirely new. the swedish artist Oscar Reutersvärd (*1915 in Stockholm, 2. Febuary 2002) and the english mathematician Roger Penrose devised the so called ›Impossible Object‹ - a two dimensional triangle that appears to be closed from a certain perspective, however its three dimensional form is entirely different. the effect is realised by tricking our visionary senses. And here, a master of this discipline, one must mention M.C. Escher.
This collection is inspired by impossible constructions, multiple dimensions and the art of tricking our visionary senses.
Svenja Knoppik (27) recently graduated in Fashion Design at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld in Germany and now finally presents her diploma collection. In the past she worked for Gareth Pugh as an intern. During this internship Svenja worked on Pitti Menswear and on Autumn/Winter 2011/12 films directed by Ruth Hogben.Born Standing Up
Confession time: I watched Father of the Bride
and Father of the Bride 2
on an alternating daily fashion for at least one year of my life. I woke up and watched as much of that day's movie before I went to school, then came home and finished it after school, and did the same thing the next day, and the next day, and the next for one year. 365 days. Which means I've seen each movie a minimum of 183 times. I'm honestly not kidding about this. I was around eight when the obsession consumed me. I just loved those movies, and I adored Steve Martin. Mostly because he reminded me of my dad. I'm not a huge fan of stand-up comedy, but I was interested in Steve Martin's autobiography Born Standing Up: A Comic's Life
simply because he had such a huge impact on my childhood, and in turn my life. I read his novella Shopgirl a year ago, so I knew that Steve Martin was a fantastic writer. Within the first ten pages of this book I knew I was in for something great.
Actually on the first page he shines, "My most persistent memory of standup is of my mouth being in the present and my mind being in the future; the mouth speaking the line, the body delivering the gesture, while the mind looks back, observing, analyzing, judging, worrying, and then deciding when and what to say next"(1). I've never been a stand-up comic, but that description instills the fear and heightened awareness he must have experienced every single night. He ends the chapter in a similarly fantastic fashion, describing why this book is a biography and not an autobiography: "In a sense, this book is not an autobiography but a biography, because I am writing about someone I used to know. Yes, these events are true, yet sometimes they seemed to have happened to someone else, and I often felt like a curious onlooker or someone trying to remember a dram. I ignored my stand-up career for twenty-five years, but now, having finished this memoir, I view this time with surprising warmth. One can have, it turns out, an affection for the war years" (3).
The rest of the biography relays the events of Steve Martin's life, and it must be said that the first half of his life covered is rather boring. This isn't really a great biography to read if you want to hear a really interesting, fabulous story about a celebrity. Martin worked at Disneyland, he didn't get along with his father, he liked doing magic tricks. He's different, but not astounding. All of that said, I felt like I knew Martin pretty well by the end of this biography simply through his writing. He can be repetitive, and there were times I wondered why he included the information he did-- but overall I loved this book.
I give this biography an A.

Christian Westphal Spring/Summer 2013 Women’s Collection
Copyright by Christian Westphal | Photography Bo Johannsen | Print Design Sara Haraique | Model Emilie at Scoop
Christian Westphal has been caught by the fuzz. Whereas last two seasons was all about cut, the story for Summer 2013 is texture and lightning. To ensure that the focus is on the fabrics, the Danish-born designer zeroes in on a few uncomplicated, graphic silhouettes: over-the-knee skirts, nylon silk jackets, pants with cut-away waistband, and the signature shirts, some of them pumped up with away-from-the-neck volumes and bringing refined add-on plisses on collar and placket pieces.
On the other side of the spectrum, a fitted jacket comes whipped up from a weightless silk and metal blend. In the Westphal collection you’ll see a mix of minimalism, strong silhouettes and fresh accent colours that still defines the 2010’s, and this remains Westphal’s thing.
He wants his clothes to be for the modern urban women and aside from an incongruously literal Vegas reference in a metal powder gold print on black silk, the almost-abstractions look like scatterings of city lights. Westphal wants to literalize the notion when he decorates one skirt and a blouse with melting gold to replicate the lights of a Vegas building by night. But the real inspiration is anything but pseudo-science.
There is a school of thought which says that mystery preserves the magic, but Westphal tries to understand that if you reveal the machinery, you can enhance the mystery. That's because you're throwing a spotlight on the intangibles of creativity. But the other message of the collection is man-made: a shrugged-off casualness, and because this isn´t particularly fashion, Westphal uses the counterbalance of hyper-fashion silhouettes from Italian and Spanish haute couture of the 1950’s, however simultaneously academic and seductive.

Shirley Volume One
Kaoru Mori's Shirley is a collection of short stories about maids in Victorian London. The main story is about Shirley, a thirteen-year-old maid for young old maid Bennet Cranley. Bennet places an ad in the newspaper for a maid because she runs a diner and has no time to clean. She comes home from work one day to find Shirley on her doorstep. Shirley is young and chose Bennet because there was no age requirement in her ad. Bennet takes to Shirley quickly; Shirley works hard and makes the home spotless. Bennet begins to treat Shirley almost like a daughter. She purchases her a doll, but then questions if it is too childish for her. She finds Shirley making clothes for the doll and discovers that Shirley is a very able fashion designer.
Shirley admires Bennet for her beauty and intelligence. She wants to be exactly like her and you can begin to see this taking shape from the beginning of the story. She defends her against those who treat her wrongly and becomes a little possessive of her.
The second story is called Me and Nellie and One Afternoon. This is about another young maid named Nellie whose child master wants to play with her. His parents are gone and Nellie is the only person close to his age. She has to make him happy even though he is a complete brat. She is able to feel empathy for him when she finds out about his mother's alcoholism from another maid.
The final story is about Mary Banks, who is a maid for an unruly old man. He loves to play pranks on all of his help and makes things extraordinarily difficult for them. While most maids don't last a day there, Mary Banks is able to stick it out until the old man's death.
I didn't enjoy this one as much as Emma: A Victorian Romance Volume One. The story was nice and sweet, but it didn't deal with as much of the cultural and societal issues as Emma did. This isn't a bad thing, I did enjoy it, but I just enjoyed Emma more. If you've never read anything by Karou Mori then I would suggest readivng that before this, although if you're looking for something nice and simple that takes place in Victorian London then this is a good one to check out.

By SARAH BULL It's a puzzle! Carol Vorderman struggles to get into her car in a tight white dress after appearing on This Morning today
She's a huge fan of tight pencil dresses, saying they push her up and pull her in just where she needs it.
But sometimes it seems they perhaps pull Carol Vorderman in a bit too much - judging by pictures of the presenter struggling to get into her car in a white zip dress today.
The 50-year-old star tried various ways of getting into the vehicle in an elegant and ladylike fashion, but ended up having to lift up her knee and swivel her way in as the dress proved too restrictive. This way or that way? But Vorderman kept a big smile on her face throughout her predicament
However, Vorderman managed to stay smiling throughout her predicament, grinning widely for the waiting photographers before finally successfully navigating her way into the vehicle.
Earlier in the day, Vorderman tweeted fans to warn them to expect a special outfit when she appeared on This Morning to do the newspaper review with comedian Iain Lee.
She wrote: 'Warning. This Morning about 10.30 I shall be reviewing the newspapers and will be in danger of dressing my age!! 'Got the answer: Vorderman eventually decided to lift up her knee and swivel her way into the vehicle
Vorderman has become something of a sex symbol in recent years and is undoubtedly in incredible shape for a 50-year-old woman.
And she said recently she is happy with her figure and has learned to accept her womanly curves.Stunning: The white dress flattered Vorderman's hourglass figure
She explained: 'When you’re in your 20s and 30s you often think “I don’t like this bit, I don’t like that bit, I wish I could shave a few inches off here”.
‘But when you’re older you’re just blooming grateful for what you’ve got! For instance, I’ve learned that women spend lots of time worrying about cellulite but men just don’t see it, particularly as they get older themselves and their eyesight goes too!
'At this age you don’t beat yourself up any more - what’s the point? I’m comfortable in my skin, I’m really happy and that’s all that counts.'

conundrum : a problem that is difficult to deal withBurkhardt/Möllmann Spring/Summer 2012 Women’s Collection
Copyright by B/M | Photography Ulrich Hartmann | Styling Sebastiano Ragusa | Hair/MakeUp Tom Strohmetz | Model Valeria Benner
In season Spring/Summer 2012 Berlin-based fashion label Burkhardt/Möllmann presents itself clearly defined and minimalist as usual. Tight and straight patterns and the focus on a few, but particularly colourful elements catch the observer’s eye.
As sometimes denoted in former collections, the basic theme of B/M 121 is borrowed from a technical work environment. This time motives are modelled on the clothing worn by an aircraft carrier’s crew. Every crew member wears a certain uniform which exactly characterizes their tasks on board, since the uniforms can be clearly
distinguished by visual elements. Different integral colouring is combined with several graphic shapes and symbols. Consequently, every single combination from colour, shape and symbol is a code and expresses the person’s exact function.
This fascination for the semiotics of colours and design elements is now reflected in Burkhardt/Möllmann’s present fifth collection. the luminous colours orange and blackberry are mainly used in geometric details on straps, belts, zippers, buttons, collars, cuffs and laces. At the same time, the colours form a contrast to the neutral parts in anthracite, black and white. the lucid details and the colour-neutral parts are united in their distinctive graphic stringency and seeming functionality.
